I like the new site. The font size on this particular comment screen bites, tho...or perhaps my new preggy vision is worse today. I'm blind!

Thanks for the link, lovie.

As far as spectroscopic analysis, those space suity guys can do that on the manned space mission I keep hearing about, right? Boy, oh boy, I'd like to see the bill for that trip. Wait. So, that's what the feds take outta my check every month! And I don't even get to go...rats.

There are better, more feasible ways to determine chemical compositions of substances it’s just not economically viable. Give the technology a few more years to get smaller, lighter and cheaper and it’ll go out there. I bet by 2010 they have plans for a solar sail to drag something larger out there.

I always found it amazing that we can determine, with a great deal of accuracy, the chemical composition of starts thousands and millions of light year away by simply filtering the light waves. I also love the concept that it would be most likely for an alien species to send any communications to us in the form of the light wave of the most abundant element in the universe--Hydrogen. God Bless You, Carl Sagan. Where would we be without you having lived and taught us to ask these questions?
