Yeah, I don't think that simile had the effectiveness I was aiming for--I'll have to edit it out in the final revision. What can you do--sometimes you take a swing and miss, my friend.
What I meant was (One of my characteristic failings being that I always assume everyone knows what I mean without giving enough information so that they actually do.) that I still believe in Santa.
Unfortunately, it is indeed a demonstrable objective fact that "a nebulous mass of sickened individuals are hell bent on killing each and every one of us at any time and place."
This being so, I do not see what we can realistically do other than fight back in order to deter or destroy them.
